AWS and AlphaBeta launch Green Data Centres report at SGTech webinar

In a webinar hosted by SGTech on the future of data centres in Singapore on April 26, 2022, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and AlphaBeta jointly launched the Green Data Centres report. The report aims to inform the ongoing discourse on the green data centres transition in Singapore by providing a precise, fact-based analysis of the current economic and environmental contributions of Singapore’s data centres, as well as how the industry could evolve under different scenarios from now until 2030. It also outlines some critical actions required from the Government and the industry to ensure the latter’s sustainable, long-term development.

Dr. Fraser Thompson, Co-Founder and Principal of AlphaBeta, outlined its main findings, while other speakers from SGTech, AWS, Digital Realty, Equinix, and Keppel Data Centres spoke on a variety of topics including sustainable data centres initiatives in Singapore, potential future collaborations between government and industry in Singapore to promote green data centres, and best practices from other countries.
